The team

The following team help to support the Chair and Board:

Alex Plant – Interim Strategic Director
Alex took up an interim role within the Enterprise Partnership back in September 2010, and in February 2011 he was officially made Interim Strategic Director on part-time secondment from his role as Chief Executive of Cambridgeshire Horizons. From 4th July 2011 Alex will become Executive Director: Environment Services at Cambridgeshire County Council, at the same time as continuing his role within the Enterprise Partnership.

Alex worked for Cambridgeshire Horizons for three years, and before that has experience of working within local Government at GO-East, national Government with HM Treasury, as well as for the Civil Aviation Authority.

Neil Darwin – Interim Operations Director
Neil became Interim Operations Director in February 2011 after working hard to help develop the Bid for the Enterprise Partnership back in the summer of 2010 and beyond. Neil is officially seconded, part-time, from his role as Director of Opportunity Peterborough.

Prior to joining Opportunity Peterborough Neil was Chief Executive of Regional Cities East, and has in-depth knowledge of the local area.

 

Laura Welham-Halstead – Communications and Engagement Lead
Laura is the part-time Communications and Engagement Lead for the LEP, overseeing a wide range of PR, marketing, social media and event activity, as well as being the first point of contact for many people who contact the LEP.

Prior to working for the LEP, Laura worked in both the public and private sectors for a range of different companies including Cambridgeshire Horizons (the public sector organisation responsible for driving forward the delivery of sustainable new communities across Cambridgeshire), Lotus Cars, Cambridge Assessment and other PR & Marketing agencies. Laura also runs her own PR, marketing and social media company whilst not working for the LEP.

Mark Cooper – Skills and Business Growth Lead
Mark joined the LEP team in November 2011 as the part-time Skills and Business Growth Lead.

Mark has a wealth of experience within the commercial arena, and has spent the last three years studying History at Cambridge University. Alongside the skills required to run commercially focused teams, he has been involved in setting up, running and selling his own successful business, providing him with a unique insight into the business community.

Dr Glenn Athey – Economic Strategy & Investment Lead
Glenn joined the LEP team as Economic Strategy and Investment Lead (part-time) in February 2012 having previously run high profile economic think tank Insight East at EEDA and more recently worked as a consultant on a range of projects, including working with the LEP Network.

Glenn has a vast amount of experience within the field of economic development, including time spent at renowned think tank, Centre for Cities, as well as both the London Development Agency and Scottish Enterprise. He is looking forward to work with the private, public and third sectors to develop the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough economy.

Natalie Blaken – Infrastructure Lead
Natalie joins the LEP team on secondment from EEDA as part-time Infrastructure Lead, working for the LEP alongside her role as Head of Strategy at EEDA.

With over ten years of experience within planning, Natalie understands not just the requires of infrastructure in a planning context, but also within an economic context having provided expert evidence at public inquiry and examination in public to secure greater economic performance and leading economic evidence to regional, sub regional and local strategy development including the Regional Economic Strategy.
