The bid
In the summer of 2010 the Government asked local areas to come together to create and submit a bid to become a Local Enterprise Partnership. The Board of these partnerships must be at least 50% business representatives, and they must listen to the needs of local businesses.
Economic research showed us that the two cities of Cambridge and Peterborough drive the economy in our area, supported by the surrounding market towns and villages. Therefore the partnership decided to come together to submit a bid to Government to become a Local Enterprise Partnership in September 2010.
We were given the green light by Government on 26th October 2010 – one of the first round of Enterprise Partnerships to be approved, showing that our bid was strong.
