Cllr Sian Reid

Sian Reid is Leader of Cambridge City Council and has been Liberal Democrat ward councillor for Newnham in Cambridge since 2002. She was portfolio holder for Climate Change and Growth from 2006 to 2010, and Design Champion.

She led the council’s policies on growth and helped developed and promote the Quality Charter, setting high standards for new neighbourhoods around the city.

She launched Cambridge’s Climate Change Strategy in 2008 and the city council won, jointly, the Liberal Democrat Green Council of the Year award in 2011.

Sian teaches management at the Open University Business School, with students who work in a wide variety of businesses and public service organisations throughout the Cambridge subregion.  She read Modern Languages at Bristol University, and after working for Resurgence magazine and in tourism she did an MBA at London Business School. After eight years at BT starting telecoms businesses, she became joint CEO of the Legion Group which developed joint venture businesses in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe before it was sold to Matra Hachette. She is an academician of the Academy of Urbanism.
